Dear editor,
Amendment XIII should not be taken away. We don’t want the united states to bring back slavery. When there was slavery in the old times, families where taken apart and never bought back together.
It was hard for the African Americans, especially when they didn’t get paid a lot, only a couple of pennies. Often the slaves would get diseases from the weather. It was really hard for them.
I do not know if there will be another hero to free the slaves like Harriet tubman, or will the president declare slavery coming to an end like Abraham Lincoln? But please don’t bring back slavery again. That’s gonna chang everything badly if you do.
Sincerely, Adam W

Dear Editory,

We don’t think that you should take away the IX Amendment, which is; Powers Reserved to the People. This rule says, people have all rights not listed in the Constitution. With out this amendment we can’t add or say what the basic role or purpose of the amendment takes on The Bill of Rights.

Sincerely,
` Peyton L. and Makenzie B.

Dear Editor
The amendment that we chose is the eighth amendment otherwise known as bail and punishment. This right means that courts can’t punish criminals with unusual and/or excessive ways. It is important to Americans because torturing criminals is way too harsh. They should just send criminals to jail or another punishment. If they took away this right, life would be chaos. This is because the punishments would be way too painful and that’s going too far. If you sent someone to jail for 75 years, the criminal’s family would be really sad. That is why this right should not be taken away.

Sincerely,

Dear Editor,
We think that the amendment that we should keep is amendment 1, the basic freedoms. This amendment gives everyone freedom of speech, religion and press. It also gives people the right to assemble protest and openly discuss problems that they have with the government. No one will be arrested because of their religion or beliefs.
This amendment is important because the whole nation will be chaos if it did not exist. This is because other people would judge other people or be rude about someone else’s religions or beliefs.
The government would also arrest anyone who tried to protest against them.
Life in America would be way different then life now. It would be carried with all kinds of bad things that we don’t want. For example people wouldn’t be able to express their beliefs. And people would be getting judged by what religion they are that is not right for this amendment. That’s why we should keep amendment.

Dear Editory,

Congress decides to eliminate one of the first ten amendments

Thy government shalln’t eliminate thee 1st amendment for it can bring injustice to our lands. Thy amendment explains that no harm shall be done against our people for speaking thar minds. If thy amendment is snatched away, I would be in thy gaol by now. If I called a constable a BLUBBERING IDIOT, I would be hanging on ye gallows. It is important to thy people because it protects thee people and thy mouth.

Dear Editor,
We disagree to your statement on taking away our 1st amendment for basic rights. This amendment is important to us because without it we would not have freedom of: speech, religion, press, and assembly.
You might be asking yourself why this amendment is so important to us. This amendment is important to us because we would not be able to stand up to the government and they would disrespect our thoughts completely and would not allow us to say or right what we think.
This would affect our life style by: not being able to vote and not listen to our thoughts.

Sincerely,
Sofia B, Amy R, Morgan P, and Ally T

Dear Editor,
The reason we should get the 2# amendment back is because, if somebody would break into our home . We should be able to defend ourselves, in case they threaten us too. And somebody has to keep animals under control.Ha ha we just need weapons

We should keep the 1st amendment because without freedom of speech we wouldnt be able to make suggestions to the government or criticize them if something is not fair like brining back slavery or foring people to work.

Dear Editor,
If the 1st amendment was canceled then it would affect America in a bad way. We would not have the freedom to say what we felt. We could not talk about certain things. If I said anything bad about the government, I would get in legal trouble. America would have to protest about it. The horrible thing that would happen if this amendment was canceled would be that we might not be able to protest. It might be against the new amendment to protest.
Another part of the first Amendment is freedom of religion. I personally think that if we had no Freedom of religion that would create a monster. People who belong to strict religions would be terrified if they had to go to a regular church or temple. If I am Jewish, I would not want to be Christian. If I am Christian, I would not want to be Jewish. I think it is very unfair for someone to tell you what to believe. You should not be forced to be a certain religion.
If this amendment was canceled things in the U.S.A would be much different. It would even impact other countries. People who lived in America would want to move to other countries like Europe. This might be a good thing for other countries though. Each other Country would earn more money because people from America would move there.
Sincerely, McKenna

Bill of Right
Dear Editor,

We think that the 1st Amendment should be kept. The meaning of the Amendment is for all people to have freedom of speech and religion. It is important to Americans because everyone should be able to speak their minds and practice their own religions. Life will change because we won’t have our own freedom of speech and religion

Sincerely, Allie F, Hayley I, Monday C
